Interesting news bits from around the world

Ok the first bit that caught my attention was about a football player getting yellow carded fro saving a cat. Yes, damnit a CAT! the keepr transported the wayward kitty out of harms way! the keeper got the card for leaving the pitch without permission. You can read the original story at: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/europe/8374495.stm

the next bit was news of the design for the 1000 MPH car being finalized. utter madness. I do not understand why one needs to build a car that is useless on the road. and if one needs to rush that quickly somewhere, they can always resort to buying a flight ticket. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/8374491.stm

Robin Soderling has caught my eye by beating the out of form Rafael Nadal yet again this year. I thought Soderling's French Open semifinal win was a fluke. Obviously not. Looks like he has Nadal's attention now. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/tennis/8375032.stm

And the last but most sobering news was that of a man who for 23 years, the doctors thought was in a coma only to discover he wasnt all this while!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The man was paralysed totally and could not even move his eyelids. For the whole time, he was trapped in his own body with no way of letting friends and family know he could hear every word they were saying.what the F*&^? if it was me, i would have sued all the damn doctors for this.. It would have made me angry for losing out on my life..http://uk.news.yahoo.com/5/20091123/twl-man-trapped-in-23-year-coma-was-cons-3fd0ae9.html

Keeping Fit

A new obsession has taken over me- keeping fit. I have taken up cycling recently. For years I shunned the gym stationery bike. But things have changed. Until such time I chose a race worthy bike, the stationery bike is my best pal. okay, not my best but my second best. ( I leave it to you to guess my best pal).

For all fledgling cyclists like me, there are a lot of websites that provide free guidance. Some are not well designed but the content is superb. Some are pay sites but if you are really serious, it is worth it to take the plunge.

steps

Talk about steps…baby steps, stepping into a new job, loud warnings over the speaker to mind your step at the train station…steps…so many steps…you probably create a step by step plan many times a day to achieve something- whether making a salad or creating a presentation or planning to buy a new house…steps- you build something in steps…you take a step to go somewhere…and that is why I find steps so exciting…. Steps lead you somewhere … taking a step puts you in a different place than you were before…taking a step makes you marry, be bolder or compassionate... steps equate with motion with change, making a difference… steps are the basic units of progress…the Chinese proverb fits in here...I quote “A journey of a thousand miles begins with a small footstep”... So here I am talking to you….you have stepped into my blog :-) ...thank you very much...
